In the January of 2015, the Cana Government launched a new application management system known as Express Entry. It replaced the previous immigration system of "first come, first serve" with a point-based ranking system called CRS (Comprehensive Ranking System) for managing the applications of immigrants who have applied for a permanent resident visa for Canada through one of the following three major federal economic immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

It is the most expedient method of immigration to apply for a PR Visa through this channel, and the processing time for an ideal application is between six to eight months. Candidates with previous work experience in one of 347 occupations are considered eligible and can participate in the Express Entry pool by submitting an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile under the FSW. All of the Express Entry pool's profiles are ranked through the utilization of CRS. The profiles with the best overall scores are subsequently allowed to apply for a permanent resident visa through express entry lotteries that are periodically organized. Applicants in possession of an ITA will have sixty days to forward their application for a PR visa to the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada).

Minimum requirements to apply for Canada PR Visa through Federal Skilled Worker (FSW)

You should meet these minimum requirements to apply for a Canadian PR Visa under FSW:

  • Have a minimum of one year or equivalent part-time work experience (in continuity) in any one of the 347 listed occupations under the NOC (National Occupation Classification) System.
  • Experience must be in a skilled occupation listed under skill levels O (Managerial Occupation), A (Professional Occupation), and B (Technical Professions and skilled trades).
  • Must have 67 points in the Federal Skilled Worker Points assessment Grid List.
  • Should have language proficiency with a cut-off set for CLB level 7 or 6 per band in IELTS.
  • Show sufficient funds which show you can settle in the province.
  • Must have a Medical Examination and a PCC (Police Clearance Certificate).
